First, Syd jokes about her playing time, so we feel like it's fair game!
With plans of being the face of the league (WNBA), Sydney Colson is leaning into her greatest claim to fame: herself. She has somehow become our favorite player in the WNBA, and she doesn’t play… well, she plays a little bit here are the stats to show.
The 5’8” 35-year-old guard’s Instagram bio says it all.
This has got us thinking. We grow up believing that attention and accomplishment is only reserved for the best players on a team or in a league. We take that into life thinking that we have to be the BEST to deserve the recognition we desire. In reality, all we have to be is our best selves. We can be whatever we desire to be and our journey doesn’t have to look like what society deems as acceptable. Ex. Spike Lee just got inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for being a fan!
This is concept of making the best of our journey to receive the recognition we think is only reserved for the “greats” will continue to be explored.
In the meantime, get into how funny Sydney is!
Also, can this sort of banter and hilarity exist outside of sport? The locker room banter, weight room jokes, giggles in the huddle, whispers on the bench, and media antics. Where does that camaraderie exist outside of sports locations?
Hopefully, we will find them or... create them.
