As the G.O.A.T Serena Williams retired from Tennis and has thrust herself into the fashion, beauty, hosting, and VC space, her style has caused… controversy. From the comments under her Met Gala look to the viral tiktok by @medusashowoff going in on how she needs a new glam squad and style team.
To all of the criticism, Serena said NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH. For a minute there, I think we all thought she didn’t give a damn about us and said, insert Uzi Vert do what I want gif only for her to make some adjustments quietly. Fast forward to Essence Fest and the Espys to Serena Poppin out and showing all of us that she knows how to make adjustments without a fuss. Thanks for the feedback. She doubled down on Kendrick Lamar’s bar “from Alondra down to Central, n****s betta not speak on Serena.
I hope other celebrity friends and even those of us who aren’t famous can learn from how she handled constructive criticism.
The Lesson:
Most of the time, people want the best for you. We are all rooting for you! People want the best for you. We are all rooting for you! That’s hard to believe when your ego is slightly bruised, but it’s true. Believe in the good more than that negative voice telling you, “Everyone is a hater and wants you to fail.”
Because she can put her ego aside, her response is with her actions, not words stemming from emotions. Queen-like behavior, if you ask me.
She’s still staying true to herself and what she likes, just with minor tweaks. She heard what people were saying but didn’t go to the extreme of completely changing herself, finding balance in simply improving what you bring to the table.
We love the new glam squad, and we are all becoming even more obsessed with Serena beyond the game.
